Went through the rabbit hole, plenty of logs to climb on at the time. The rock with the steps cut in is at an odd angle, with a hand line it would be alright but there was not one there already when i was there in early march.

Thanks for the info on the logs and the rabbit hole. Getting hyped about the trip. Going from Wire Pass-Paria-White House trailhead. Solo. Will be a one-day through hike. Will do the Wire Pass to Lee’s Ferry with my son in early October. Will give you a post after next weeks trip. Walkabout

Walkabout did the Gulch on 24April. Little over 11 hours of pure joy. Great weather. Left Wire Pass at 7 AM at 29 degrees. A little cool, but warmed fast. Easy to junction with Buckskin Gulch. Water holes started right away. 10 in the first hour, 9 the second hour, then down to 2 0r 3 each hour until passing the middle entry point. None of them over knee deep. Just cold and muddy. Cesspool was smaller than I expected, but smelled worse. Through the rabbit hole at the rock jam, down a tree trunk. There was a good rope in place, had I wanted to use it to go over the top. Paria was VERY low. Within 3 feet of each side of the water flow, it was very muddy. Overall, the river bed sand was fairly hard packed and easy to walk on. Looking forward to doing it again in October as an overnighter with my son. Walkabout

Am doing the Buckskin on 24 April. How was the rock jam? Did you use the rabbit hole, or have to go up and over? Thanks for posting. Walkabout

Thanks, I think we had about 9 muddy wading pools in buckskin, we got lucky the huge storm 2 days before we started was just 10 inches of snow and not rain so it managed to not flood. Below the confluence was incredible, i was worried planning the trip that below the confluence would be a mediocre slog as ive heard it described. I think though that the entire length is incredible, its always so different i could never say one part was better than the rest.

Enjoyed the images and music a lot. Thanks for posting it! At first I thought Buckskin looked pretty dry. Then the gooey foot picture. I wondered whether the cesspool was in place, then I saw it and memories of the smell from 24 years ago came swimming back in. I have never been below the confluence. Thank you for taking me there!
