We scouted an exit drainage from the top down for this canyon a few weeks ago and decided to give it a try yesterday. Flintstone is a rarely run canyon I think due to its very long shuttle exit down West Fork to Oak Creek Canyon then the long drive back up to retrieve your vehicle. We dropped into the main drainage of Flintstone on the west side of the canyon in a drainage that required a 90 foot rappel to enter the canyon floor. The rappel was convienently located because we landed right above the first pothole rappel shown in picture 2. The exit is a bit steep at first (but what exit isn’t steep in West Fork) but ends up being really easy on the upper second half up to the road up top. 5.8 mile loop now if one chooses to do the loop exit. Knock 1.5 miles of hiking time off the loop if you have two vehicles with you up top.
