Such an amazing place to spend the day. My girl friend and I took a few friends from Cali through the canyon, It was their first time in Illusions as I wanted to give them a day to remember so off we went. I ran it in the fall last year and in the spring of this year which are better times to go in my opinion due to the water flow through the canyon. We used a 60 ft 8.3 for everything but the nuisance rap and the to big drops Let the fun begin My buddy Tom has done Wilbur and the Jug twice so he was good to go That’s my girl. Dinna also did illusions with me on the two previous trips More fun just ahead Dinna working her way through the arch Beauty around every corner It took us awhile to get Joel through the arch, He had some fear about stretching out to reach the rock to pull himself through Some crazy crack disappearing under the vegetation, I had to check this out Rappel on, Deeper we go Its though the hole or over the top, your choice. Great shot of Tom, I had the guys up top clear some debris out of the water coarse to get the flow going for the photo Rappel on Here comes the potholes The next three photo’s are Dinna dropping into a pothole and up and out. Awesome colors in this section This is the worst start out of all the rappels in my opinion. Still fun tho Dinna on firemans belay for Tom One of the 100 footers Last rappel into a full pothole. There is a ledge under water you can stand on to the right of the exit to take pictures from Dinna on the last 100 ft rappel, No carcasses this time Done

AB Young has been officially re-opened (6/18). Yes there is an alternate sneak route out an east side draw prior to reaching the west fork of oak creek.

Mark, It seems most everyone is starting to do the sneak exit so the shuttle can be eliminated. It is shorter but more physically demanding so it doesn’t save much on time, but does save a lot on driving. Barney, Immaculate, Insomnia, and Illusions all have sneak exits. I have not heard of any for Flintstone on the north side, but then again that shuttle drive is much shorter.

AB Young trail to get there, out via Call of the Canyon? I believe AB Young is closed. There is an alternate sneak exit?

Beautiful canyon! How hot did you get on the non-technical return portion? I assume you did the shuttle?
