We had a group of 4 do Johnson Arch Canyon and Behunin last weekend. Both are great canyons and we stayed dry the whole time. Johnson didn’t have a drop of water and Behunin only had a couple easily avoided pools.
What is the trail head for Johnson Arch Canyon now? The normal spot at the end of 4200 N had “No Parking”/”No Trespassing” signs and the next road north had the same thing. The Chuckwalla trail head seems like a ridiculous option and probably a deal breaker for doing the canyon.

There is a lawsuit over it filed by a neighboring property owner. The allegation is the defendant was only allowed to build there if he provided recreational access. However, there is no recorded easement. The lawsuit seeks a prescriptive easement. We’ll see.

The access point there was on private land that the owners were allowing use of but because of trash and parking issues has been revoked. 1 block to the South of there is public lands. There is no trail there now, but I would assume that will start to become the new access point for Johnson Canyon / Gila trail / Dinosaur track access point

Interesting… I did Johnson back in March and didn’t see those signs anywhere at the location.
Definitely new this year.
I’m sure those residents are sick of the added traffic passing their homes. Isn’t that access point to snow canyon on state land though? I’ll have to look at some maps and see the property lines…

I’m not sure if it is a public access right of way or who owns it but there is a fence and signs there now. I can understand it becoming a pain especially if people are leaving trash and not taking care of things. That’s a good reason for us to always be courteous when doing this type of activity.
