That is one impressive trip, although the never-ending bowling ball sized rocks climbing out of Swett don’t exactly make a smooth ending to a backpacking trip (from experience). The Klymit is great for a casual float with minimal effort and a small pack. It would be torture with 9 days of gear in a pack and even worse on relatively flat water. Props to him for enduring. The Alpacka would be the only way to do that trip and finish with some sanity.

We actually did it as a 9 day trip. After descending Clearwater, we packrafted to Dark Canyon and hiked out of Dark via the Sundance Trail. We then trekked across the desert towards Horse Tanks Canyon. Then descended Horse Tanks Canyon to White Canyon. Once we got to White we did the Black Hole and continued down canyon past the normal exit and hiked White Canyon all the way down to Lake Powell. When we go to the lake, we packrafted across to Trachyte Canyon and hiked up Trachyte to the Swett Canyon narrows and all the way up to highway 276, where we had stashed the second car. It was an epic trip and Carlos said he would never use the klymit again (I was in an Alpacka Raft)

How far did you guys float? Hike out Dark or all the way to Hite? How long did it take? I know lake level plays a big role but that seems like quite the paddle in a Klymit.
Thanks for sharing. This one doesn’t seem to get done much.
