We finally got into one of our top prize canyons yesterday, and were able to tick off a short middle section of it before time forced us out of the canyon. This canyon, which my friend Cameron dubbed “Heaven’s Gate”, has a monster series of cascades on it as the creek pours out of some untouched jungle mountains. There are lots and lots of falls on this creek, and we will be going back to suss out the whole thing soon. On this daywe didn’t really have a good shot at much as our departure time was a bit later than we would have liked. Still, ended up rapping a 60 m falls in three stages, and got good beta for the rest of the canyon for a later trip. Will post more as the exploration of this gorge continues. And there is another canyon very similar just two kms next door as well…..

And much closer
We dropped in below this falls, but next time we will descend this one, and more above. There are at least 4+ more good sized drops above this one.

Looking at whats below. Another falls, and then a horizon line with open air below it. Next time!
