Jolley Gultch

Having only a couple of hours this afternoon to do a canyon with a friend that was in an area we decided to do Jolley Gulch. It’s a short beautiful little canyon with not much to it so it’s great for just two people. When we got to the top of the second rappel I noticed part of a rope that was left behind because it got stuck in the middle section. Because this is the second time I have encountered this issue in the last month, and because we also got our rope stuck there last time (We had ascenders with us so we were able to rescue our rope and not cut it and leave it behind.) I decided to rig some wedding on the log jam there. I would suggest that you do the second rappel into different rappels instead of a two-stage Rappel (or at least last man down does…) because it seems like when you pull the Rope it coils up and half hitches on to the log causing it not to be able to be pulled down.
