Last October I was looking into doing Misery Canyon in (outside of) Zion during my annual fall pilgrimage to the desert. I was concerned about reports of a massive rockslide near the start of the canyon that was posing eminent rock fall hazard. Does anybody know the status of the canyon? Did the looser debris finish sloughing off last winter and spring?

Their was a rock fall. I think there might still be a loose boulder that causes some concern. I have not been through since, but I heard reports. I am sure somebody else will jump in with update info.

I went down the east fork of misery this July and did not see anything the posed an eminent rock fall hazard.

The rockfall area is after the confluence of the East and West Forks. It is the start of the final “grotto section”.

What is the current status of the rockfall?
