Trip Report

Other – Downclimbs, swims and a big rap in Parallel Play

Now is the time to run some of the gems in the deserts of Arizona. If your timing is right, you just might find some easy class C flows. Weeks after the snow has melted the water is still seeping through the ground and creating some nice run-off.

With the highs reaching in the 70s, even the dead of winter is inviting for a wet canyon. The biggest problem is avoiding the cat claws.

The trail immediately climbs high out of tonto basin.

As soon as you drop into the canyon you are greeted with a nice pool and the first rappel.

With stronger flows I guess this is a double waterfall – hence parallel play.

More is better??? No – we removed extra webbing from the top of the big rap. Including a chewed threw piece that was hidden.

The big 220-240 foot rap. (Can also be done staged if you don’t want to carry the big rope)

Some fun down climbing on slippery rock

All smiles says the guy (me) with the dry suit.

Getting showered at the disconnect.
