Everyone thought I was nuts last weekend. Blizzard on Saturday, and cars off the road everywhere. Our driveway had knee deep snow from the drifts.
But wow, the weather turned out perfect in Capitol Reef. Not cold, and not hot. From previous days of planning, not knowing what to expect, we decided to do one of the wife routes. An easy approach and return for the kids. This was my friend’s sons (Dylan) first canyon activity, seven years old, and loved it. He is already asking for more.
This one drops fast, keep everyone on belay/rappel, and sequence through. There is a side drainage (left looking down canyon) after the final rap that was interesting to see, don’t miss it.
We only saw a few people on the return to the parking lot. The only disappointment for the kids is when we got home all the snow had already melted.

Great shots.
I would love to take my boys on a trip like this.
