Trip Report

UT: Capitol Reef – Cassidy Arch Canyon

Once again, Cassidy Arch Canyon found its way onto the docket, transitioning from one area to another. A quick little run through with Brian Olliver and Bryan Hoffman. Several days with two folks with the same name. Every time I called one, got an answer from both! So it is a relatively easy day. In what creative way can I add danger and excitement to the day? Please note the picture below. It was taken with telephoto and it was a full mile walk back to the parking lot in the picture. Lets see, what is different here? Oh, I see! Some idiot left his car door open, with access to all his gear, his wallet, money etc.DOH! Sure glad all the door locks were locked! One might expect one to abandon the day and head back to secure your financial present and future. And miss a canyon? Not I!! I recruited some folks from a group heading down to close the door. While the canyon went uneventfully, the “edge” never relented until, the car was opened and the wallet still being there was confirmed! Thanks to the good people visiting Capitol Reef, both recruited from the trail and those I never met who likely saw a random door left open in a public parking lot and just let it be.;-)

  • In retrospect, I suppose you could have left the engine running.

It is good to see that you had your priorities straight…that’s awesome!
