Trip Report

UT: North Wash – FF- Shamrock 12-27-18

After our Christmas Day adventure (TR to come), Jenny and I arrived at Sandthrax, late on the 26th. After saying hi to the first arrivals, we landed in Shamrock on the 27th. A short and easy, but good looking canyon, Shamrock has become a FreezeFest tradition. Shane from Washington, Dyllan from Oregon, Basia from Illinois joined us for a mellow day. Sharing camp and the occasional hike in was Dave Pitney. A long ago partner, he had dragged me to a canyoneering rendezvous, kicking and screaming, back in October 2001. For this I thank him.

We had a late start and an early finish, in cold weather, followed by an evening of snow. A subdued start to FreezeFest XVII for me,
