Richard needed to be in Salt Lake City Sunday night for his father’s birthday. One canyon seemed too few to be his introduction to canyoneering. So an early start was made for Lost Spring Canyon.
I don’t know what exactly I expected. Beta said it would be fast but not much more. Some pictures showed signs of beauty. I wondered if it would be worth it as my car hit bottom going through a wash…
I’d go back to this canyon any day! For all its shortness, this canyon has everything. Nice rappels, sweet downclimbs, tightness and beauty. It is also the best “up” I’ve had for a canyon. This descent even had my first wild scorpion of decent size in it, right at the first rappel.
If you need to get to somewhere Sunday afternoon but want to fit in a canyon, this one has to be visited.
Enjoy a video!

Nice TR, thanks for posting.
I was there a week ago and we also found a scorpion at the rappel. I can’t really see from your pic, but was it missing it’s stinger?
This canyon is awesome for how short it is, highly recommended!

Yeah the bugger still had its stinger. Richard wanted nothing to do with it so stemmed over it while on rappel. It was entertaining to watch. I got right in the thing’s face. I found it facinating.

Agreed 100%. This little canyon has a lot of bang for your buck.
Cool video. Thanks for sharing!
