Recent reports advised against bringing wetsuit, but the brisk morning air had me seriously questioning my decision to leave the neoprene home. Bruce and Stephen weren’t convinced and kept their wetsuits packed. The hike in was pleasant, and we somehow managed to hit the coolest day of week. Checkerboard pass offered some excellent views to start the day off, and the hike in seemed much shorter than I remembered.
At the first drop we anxiously peeked over the edge the check the water situation. Bone dry! What a relief, the last time I was in Fat Man’s there was neck deep water through the entire canyon. It’s amazing how different canyons are from one descent to the next, always full of surprises.
