UT: Zion – Zion Flowerwalks

Saw a bunch of good flowers at the Virgin Goosenecks on Friday, thought maybe I should do a flowerwalk in the Park, so I wandered down in the morning to walk the Pa’rus trail. I’ve seen some good blooms there in the past, but…

Zion Milkvetch – Astragalus zionis

“But” is, not much of a bloom right now. Just not warm enough yet, I guess. Found 12 species out, including 6 I don’t know and have not yet ID-d. Help me out if you can (email to ratagonia at gmail dot com).

Tiny plant, possibly a Cryptantha – nope! Alyssum simplex (wild Alyssum)

The course: Park at the museum, take the bus up to Canyon Junction, walk the Pa’rus trail back to the museum. Partly because it was chilly out, and the area near the museum was shaded when I parked, and partly because I had seen some great flowers on the Pa’rus near Cyn Jct in the past…

Yes, the part near Cyn Jct is the most interesting, but… a fine morning for a walk in the sun, with occasional squat down – take pictures breaks.
