The American Canyoneers Interim Board of Directors (IBOD) was elected in November 2011 with the responsibility of developing the basic structure, mission and vision of the organization; filing articles of incorporation and 501c3 application; and building a founding membership. Through this process the IBOD has emphasized communication, transparency and accuracy. At this time the American Canyoneers has been incorporated. The 501c3 is near completion and we are focusing our efforts on building membership.
The Interim Board of Directors has been challenged with some roadblocks along the way. In particular there have been issues with membership payments through PayPal. In turn this has become a barrier to membership that has prevented individuals from joining. This issue has been resolved! It is now easy to join the AC by going to < http://www.americancanyoneers.org/membership/>.
Membership is critical in this time of transition during which the first full Board of Directors will be elected. As such, the IBOD has decided to delay the election by 3 weeks. The election will begin on July 14 and end on July 20. In the meantime we welcome additional candidates for the Board of Directors and look forward to welcoming new members.
Please join the AC. Spread the word and ask your friends to also join. Help us create a positive future for canyoneering and to keep these magical places open. We need your help in our work on ACES: access through conservation, education and safety.

Thank you to the entire IBOD for the hard work. Great folks who
volunteered their time, lots of it, to get this thing up and running. Up to
the rest of us now, to make their efforts bare fruit.
