I’m hijacking this conversation and swapping the Subject Title, too.
Many wise ones, in many cultures, believe that when a message is put out (i.e. something is spoken aloud) it is considered to be “born to the world”. The owner then has a responsibility for the Life it takes from that point on; for how it then spreads and affects all sentient beings. In many Buddhist teachings, this is the foundation upon which Joy and Goodness is created and spread; the Purpose of Life.
What the heck does this have to do with canyoneering?
Surely, no one wishes for injury or death. Hopefully, folks are just articulating fears and offering cautionary views. Offering predictions, maybe?
Do you it said, “Be careful what you wish for?” Ditto that!
Our culture has spawned the term, “Told ya so!”. No joy, comes in canyonville with that. I don’t believe this is the wished-for outcome.
The Aguachor was created to fill a void in our canyon anchor arsenal. There are only 1/2 dozen out there. Others came up with variations of the “Water Trap”. I reasearched several ideas before I gave up and began to solve the problem from a different angle.
Thus, I have created in the world, the Aguanchor. With it, the hope that someone out there will spring board off of this and create something better, safer, more easily managed, and that NO ONE will be injured or killed.
This is the intention that I birth to the world!

This Yahoo Canyons forum offers such great opportunity to explore ideas and support safe practices in the canyons. I learn something each time I tune it. Thanks to you all, for your contributions. Jenny
