I’m not sure how you learn these lessons without the pain of experience but a second-hand story I know of goes like this,
Pulled the rope, stuck the rope … (let me state that jugging up one side of a stuck rope is about as hair ball as it gets IMO) On top of this I think the parties experience and ascending practice was very limited. Hours later the rope was free and the bivy commenced. It’s my understanding of this situation that it would have gone much faster if the ascending was not such a chore. Of course, shivering the night away in some canyon hugging two of your hairiest friends for warmth might sound fun to you.
I’ll stop begging this point now …. PRACTICE Now the plug, if you have some really good people to go out and learn from, great! If this e-group is your education tool I might suggest you cough up a little dough to get some training, it’s worth it.
