Beta, Conspiracies, Censorship and Incredibly Poor Judgment

So it sounds like some people believe we have a civic responsibility to post every bit of beta we have. The reasoning is that they need the beta to descend this canyon and not get killed. Does anyone else think that this is an exercise in incredibly poor judgment? Man, if you can’t descend a canyon without beta, my suggestion is to give up canyoneering or take a vacation and get some education.

Do I use beta? You bet, but it doesn’t mean that I rely on it or always use it. Do I share beta? Depends, I’m certainly not going to post beta to this group. I wouldn’t post beta on Keyhole to this group. That’s because I don’t know who’s out there. If I do a canyon with somebody and get to know them, then beta exchange isn’t a problem, in fact I’ll be very open with it.

Tom, I like your suggestions for the canyon in question, but you had better hurry, I’ve always wanted to chop one of your bolts.

Was it in poor taste to delete Steve’s message? Possibly, but what do I know? Some of this is my fault, but I won’t go into how much and for what reasons. Just let me say sorry and there was no harm intended.

Till next time,

Dean

P.S. Speaking of conspiracies. I heard that the ACA board had a hand in that whole JFK mess. Man, those guys are always up to something.

Cool, Dallin said he wants to be there to take pictures of the Great Tom Jones’ bolts being chopped.
