“On July 28th in Japan a customer was killed when he was swept away in a flash flood on the central island of Honshu. A guide, who was leading 6 newcomers downt the canyon, was also swept away but survived.”
This info was obtained through a Japanese blog by my wife. However, no info is available when googling the subject.
The group was NOT associated with the company ‘Canyons’ which has two ACA certified leaders.
In searching for more information I found two references on the International Association of Canyoning Guides website that listed two accidents in June. However, you must be a member to access the files:
1. 6-11-2008: Canyoning Guide Dies in Canyoning Accident 2. 6-27-2008: Fatal Canyoning Accident Near Verdun
Subsequent searches on Google did not provide further information. Perhaps Koen can provide some details.
