A suggestion for those going to the web site – the 3rd to last line is Notes, and some cameras are listed as “Water Resistant”. Do your self a favor and click on the [REMOVE] below the camera name for those. On a good day they are “sort of rain proof”, definitely not canyon proof.

It’s that time of the year again….
John’s post brings up the fact that 2009 is going to be a great year > for the photo snapping canyoneering crowd. New rugged/waterproof > cameras from Panasonic, Olympus, Canon, and Pentax are out, or will > be by late spring.
To compare many (but not all) rugged cameras do this: > 1) goto: http://www.dpreview.com/
2) click “camera database” from the left menu > 3) click “feature search” in the first paragraph under > “digital camera specifications” > 4) under the “format” pull-down menu, click “rugged” compact. Then > click “compare” at the bottom of the page.
A swoopy table will magically appear comparing many of the existing > and upcoming cameras.
