Hiker, rescuer rescued
MOAB — Grand County sheriff’s deputies rescued a 15-year-old boy and a would-be rescuer who became stuck on Corona Arch Saturday. Police said the 15-year-old was hiking with friends when he scrambled 150 feet up the southern arm of Corona Arch. Climbing onto a small ledge, the boy became trapped, deputies said. Another hiker got stranded in a nearby crevice while trying to rescue the teenager. Grand County Search and Rescue teams managed to climb up and across the arch and then use ropes to rappel down the arch to rescue the boy and his would-be rescuer. Sheriff’s deputies said no one was injured.
