Dozens of rescuers and two helicopters continued their search for a 23-year-old Hurricane man missing for three weeks. After divers failed to locate Brandon Heaton in the frigid waters of southwestern Utah’s Kolob Reservoir last week, searchers at ATV and foot turned their attention Monday to the wilds in and around nearby Zion National Park. But crews found no sign of the missing hiker, Shayne Copeland, Hurricane’s assistant police chief, said Monday afternoon at the command center. Copeland said Heaton has been missing since April 16. But rescuers didn’t launch search efforts until last week when Heaton’s 1994 blue Ford Fiestas was spotted at the reservoir. Crews focused Monday on the steep hills and cliffs in and near Zion’s Kolob Finger Canyons. Copeland said authorities have determined that Heaton bought a day pack, which was not found in the car, before he left to go hiking by himself April 16. Heaton also took with him his cell phone, credit cards and his medication for depression, Copeland said. http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_5838704

Wait…Brandon Heaton isn’t Ben Heaton’s little brother, is he?
Probably not. If he was Ben Heaton’s little brother, he would not have “just bought a daypack”, he’d have a bunch in the closet. (And, the search would have gotten started earlier).

There was a family staying at our hotel this last weekend to attend a funeral in Orderville. They said the missing man is related to them… if that helps. I know they have some other relatives that live here in the valley.
