Death Valley – Tuesday Jan 29 – Sunday Feb. 10 — Canyoneering partners needed

My wife and I just bought tickets to leave Alaska for a couple of weeks this winter. I know we could have gone real warm like Mexico or Hawaii but not all Alaskans want to escape all the cold. Cold nights and warm days in Death Valley will be fine.

She is not a technical canyoneer nor are the other Alaskans who want to come down for hiking, backpacking and hot springing.

However, I am hoping to find technical canyoneering partners for one or more canyons during these dates – Jan 29 – Feb 10. I know I am missing the 3-day Prez Weekend the following week in mid-February but this is the only time window we have so …..

Anybody ready willing and able to MeetUp for a technical canyon or two or three?

I have took Rich Carlson’s 3-day Technical Canyoneering class early this month, then spent 4 days doing 5 canyons during the recent Zion Canyoneering Rendezvous. I also have lots of rock climbing and mountaineering/ mountain rescue experience. All that is to say I am confident setting, testing and using the natural anchors that are common in Death Valley.

I am willing to buy a 200′ rope and I have all the other gear. If you have a static/ canyoneering rope please let me know that. I already own 3 150 – 165′ dynamic climbing ropes but Rich Carlson laughs at me when I even mention those 10.5 and 11 mm ropes.

Contact me directly if you are interested in partnering up.
