I am intersted in some easy( beginner) canyons in the moab area because i am taking a few freinds down who are beginners. I have done some of the harder canyons down in that are but i don’t know of any easy ones. I would be great for some beta for that area.
thanks

Im taking my Sister and brother in law who have done a little repelling but they prefer not to do any raps.  Some of my favorite non-technical canyons around Moab include the following:  Mill Creek Professor Creek Hunter Canyon Behind the Rocks (lots of different places to explore in there) Courthouse Wash  Negro Bill and Salt Wash are pretty nice as well. The hike up Rock of Ages to the arch and back is a great hike. Non Technical if you only go that far. Hour or 2 round trip. Shane has the beta on his site. Another good one in that area is Hunter Canyon, it’s off the Kane Creek road. There’s an arch up there about a mile.

It would be helpful to know which canyons you have done and which you consider easy and which you consider harder. Is length or rugged terrain the criteria used to determine hardness? Other factors play in? Mark’s suggestions below are good ones.

No rapping. OK. A few solid options. Behind the Rocks is a fun scramble zone, as is the Fiery Furnace (permit required. The upper Courthouse is full of wandering and nice vistas. Accessed from the gully just short of Park Avenue South parking lot, one goes a little west, then north as far as one can. The fins behind and north of Dark Angel out the Devils Garden trail are private and a “make your own hike” type place. Herdina Park or Klondike Bluffs both offer non tech places to wander with good quality. R
