Flash Floods

Many of you have read “The Secret Knowledge of Water” by Craig Childs. I just finished another great book about flash floods by this author, “The Desert Cries”. A “don’t miss” for desert lovers everywhere.

Yeah your right we were about half way between the BMT and the alcove. When we got to the big alcove, the pour off was flowing really good. In fact, we camped underneath that waterfall, and it ran all night long, the best nights sleep I have got in quite a while.

Pretty cool footage. Nice you had the overhang. Good timing. I assume you were somewhere south of the Boulder Mail Trail crossing? Thanks for keeping us in touch with the happenings down Escalante way. Looks like another big monsoon day out your way. Be careful all! > R

I have noticed its quite a year for FF. I am glad that we haven’t seen any more injuries than we have. Alvey Wash right outside of Escalante flooded pretty good yesterday afternoon. The road up smokey mtn is impassable still this morning.

We got caught in a flash flood up Death Hollow in the latter part of June this year. It was quite an experience trying to probe your way down that creek when it was muddy and you couldn’t see the pot holes.

Here is a video of it.
