Hey y’all –
I’m getting it together to order some Sportscience tee shirts as the new Imlay tee shirts. These are shirts that feel nice and soft like cotton, but are actually polyester – quick drying and very comfortable hot or cold weather, and quite durable. A bit more expensive. Long sleeve heather gold would be $ 32.00 retail, the short sleeve in a heather color would be $ 25.00
Other than the obvious pre-sell, I need to choose a color or two for them, and long sleeve vs. short sleeve. Their presentation:
http://www.sportsciencewear.com/categories.php
My tendency is to go long sleeve, color = gold heather but…
Well, I’m looking for feedback. Tee shirts are not exactly a profit center for me, so I do them to get the name out, and in this case, to bring this really very nice piece of clothing to the community. So I’m looking for YOUR opinion (a potential purchaser survey).
Women – long sleeve good for you, too? Preferred color?
Design : I was planning on a one-color, simple Imlay logo on the front, with a simple, larger graphic saying “Canyoneering, kind of like fun, only… different!”

I would have replied, but my limited experience is that Canyoneering and Fashion is a paradox. If the price is right, the color can’t be wrong.

Tom, One blog that I read not to long age, from a photogenic point of view is if the photoeeee is dressed in bright colors then the pictures turn out better. I looked at photos take and the people stand out much better in bright colors. So my vote is brighter is better. Bernell

I prefer the green and blue, short sleeve. Gold is, well, gold.

Well here goes…. Anything khaki will go with my current post Memorial Day canyoneering collection. I would prefer bold colors like black and red after Labor Day and particularly for Freezefest since those two colors will go well with my current selection of knee pads. My difficulty has always been trying to match the 5.10’s. Perhaps a black or charcoal gray “T” with some yellow piping would tie the whole ensemble together. A bumblebee yellow shirt would certainly match but that color is not my “season” and would just clash with my skin tones. All these choices and nothing to wear. (You asked )

A tale of fine proportions will likely unfold. If Hans Christian Anderson’s “The Emperor’s New Clothes” comes to mind than I would be hesitant to show up at the next festival. I think I just unnecessarily ruined a perfectly good child’s book.

Howdy Tom,
I agree with the grays or darker blues. I tend to look sallow in yellows/golds – which may be true of a number of folks. I want a short-sleeved, or better yet, sleeveless (should you go there to). And your design sounds great – like I might want more than one!

My preference as a prolific (female) t-shirt wearer is short sleeve, and colours such as pale olive green, light grey, or light grey/blue cos these colours still look good after a hard day of getting down and dirty!

Excellent idea, Tom. Please add Trudy and I to your pre-order list. Our other t-shirts with a canyoneering logo and theme seem to have prematurely wound up in the dust-rag bin, so we need new ones. And not being 100% cotton as the other ones were, we will actually be able to wear yours when hiking or canyoneering.

I like the slogan. Will there be a website reference for your Imlay brand as well? Anyway you can show us a preview of the graphic and logo?
> Thoughts??
I would normally vote for the white color for its sun-relective qualities or the gold that you chose, but after seeing how much better colorful shirts look in canyon photographs, I would vote for the red or orange colors.
If you take a look at this psuedo-video (a collection of still shots), see which shirt (worn over a wetsuit) looks best:

I also think t-shirts are more appropriate for the weather under which the majority of canyoneering occurs (e.g. not during Freezefests).

For hot weather, I’d prefer short sleeve and a color that doesn’t soak up the sunlight.
The basic design looks to be more photogenic, as, the heather is kinda not as eyepopping, but, a more muddled look.
Here’s my preference:
Basis short sleeve in colors in order of preference: green, gold, blue, crimson.
Heather in short sleeve ditto the above: green, blue, red.
The natural looking colors are nice, but, wouldn’t photo very well. Although, they would probably hide dirt nicely.
As far as long sleeves, I don’t usually wear them unless its cold, and, I have a ton of those types of tops. Not something I usually have a company logo on, maybe not as versatile.
Anyhoo, my two cents. I covet my warm weather short sleeve t- shirts. Great for a variety of “things”. One with a logo would be sweet, as, they aren’t that common.
Any idear how their sizes run?

They look like nice shirts, and a great selection of colors too! How about the “desert” dye color? http://www.sportsciencewear.com/details71.html# I imagine it’s a little pricier than a solid. How much?
Otherwise, if you really want to stick to the solids, I like the blue, green, gold and even the “red.”
Looking forward to having an ICG tee with a nice womens fit! Thanks Tom!

Long or short-sleeve is good, just be sure the women’s tees are a women’s cut (but not too short in length – some are way too short). Also don’t get anything too feminie in color – pink, light blue. Stick with grays, masculine blues, etc. The heathered gold color shown on the link you provided should be fine, but not everyone looks good in “gold” so it may affect sales.
