Kelsey’s book seem to be good, other than the other problems I pointed out earlier. If anyone desires more detailed info on any specific canyon that I have completed, I can help with beta.

AND it is important to read the page on your canyon, the whole page. Make sure Mr. Kelsey has actually done the route. If he has not, I suggest tearing that page out and using it for your morning constitutional. One cannot look into a canyon and know how tight, small, or hard it is. (uh, uh, don’t go there).
One that he has NOT done he lists as among his best routes! Figure that one out. It is tight, very tight, but should go for most people lighter than say, 150 lbs, HWP. That’s the Middle Fork of Butler’s West Fork Complex. And the rappel is 100 feet, into a pool.

So, if you want to know if a specific canyon might be nasty > ask…………if I know, I’ll tell you if it might be a death trap.

It might be useful to name the canyons where you know things get ugly.
Thanks, Gordon
Might be better to ask in general about conditions in the canyon your planning to tackle. Then folks in the know probably will come out in the forum or privately to you with concerns. From what Shane has told me, the requests for beta on BlueJohn has gone thru the ceiling recently. Wonder why? Hate to draw people like flys to the syrup no matter how sweat. IMHO
