more on rope cleaning – Ripley”s

We put too much rope into the machine and (believe it or not) the rope melted to the point of developing large flat spots due to friction with the plastic window during the spin cycle

Here’s an interesting one that I was called for my two cents on:

Rope was returned by a ropes course type place: defective. The core of the rope was melted in about 20 spots in the rope, scattered fairly evenly across the rope. What was even odder was that the sheath was fine!

What did they do? “Oh, nothing”.

The final conjecture was that they had microwaved it to dry it, and where the waves converged it got fried to a crisp, inside.
