N.Fork Robber”s Roost and BlueJohn TR

Spent the last 3 days in the Roost area. Here a few insights, informational pieces. For what there worth…

Roads are all in great shape. It is pretty neat to see the water damage from last year’s fall rains; especially close to the Horseshoe Canyon turnoff. However, we cruised easy at 30-40 mph.

Canyon Conditions…NFRR was dry. Very gorgeous canyon. All the rappels had slings and decent rings that were in good shape. Went out the Crack Exit. The first couple of moves to get up into the crack were easy. However, the 12 or so moves that progress up through the Crack were more strenuous then expected. Maybe after the heavy rains last fall; rocks moved, etc. We did a lot of stemming and up-climbing…What made me nervous about the crack was if there was water and mud in it. I know it would be even more difficult and time consuming. The hike back to the trailhead was hot and dry

Blue John…Did the West Fork, East Fork, and Main Canyons from the bottom. Dry and very dry!!!! Stopped at the tecky parts and turned around, so do not know what the upper canyon stretches are like…
