… and the rope that is tied to Kabindra with a figure eight knot is not a rope. It is his cow tail, made with a length of rope.

The photo I was asking about is the last rappel at Pine Creek with Gipendra getting ready to rappel or maybe hang over the edge to shoot photos. First time I’ve seen photos from this angle.
The green rope in question is a safety line they set to allow more than two people close to the anchors.
All my questions have been answered.

I think the photos are Gorka’s. 1st one in his album. looks like Gipendra is getting ready to be lowered as he is tied into the rope with a figure 8 on the end of the rope. nope no lower, I think that is his safety clipped into a carabiner clipped into the rapide. The green rope appears to be ready for double strand rappel. do not see how the orange rope is being used in the system; maybe it wasn’t.not questioning just curious.bruce from bryce To: canyons@yahoogroups.comFrom: rcwildone@yahoo.comDate: Sun, 30 Mar 2008 13:43:40 +0000Subject: [from Canyons Group] Re: Nepal canyoneering and how about a report from Zion?— In Yahoo Canyons Group, bruce silliman wrote:>> You have any ideas what is up with the setup in GTamang’s photo. Ugh. Bet that cost a pretty penny, that tow truck did. Thanx for the update…love to hear more details on the experiences when you can. Sonny was talking about probing Telephone and I will be disappointed if no one pokes their head into Middle Echo…a reminder, check the snow from down below before committing to the top. You need to get out and do canyons too you know, big guy! 😉

Rich,
You have any ideas what is up with the setup in GTamang’s photo. I think I recognize the rappel as the next to last one.
bruce from bryce P.S. hiked two hours down the Paria River yesterday just south of Cannonville. Lots of water so the lower Paria is probably running fairly strong

The company that hosted my visit to Nepal in Januiary is Friends Adventure Team. Some of you met Rajendra Lama, one of the owners, during the Zion rendezvous last October. Rajendra’s brothers, Gorkha and Kabindra, are attending the current Escalante-Zion rendezvous. We were treated to more slides and video from Nepali canyons Friday evening.I do recognize one member of the Chango staff, Kishor Shahi, as a student in the EFC course that was taking place during my stay in Nepal. I met him at the Nepal Canyoning Association meeting. As of Friday, there was water flowing out of Behunin. Water in Pine Creek was described as “numbingly cold”, even with full wetsuits. Spry was pleasant. Lots of mud and snow in Birch Hollow.
