Rich,
It’s hard to top the story of the lady with the burning legs. It’s also hard not to hear that one in person.

You’re right that was a tease. It’s kind of a long story and hard to do it justice in a few sentences. I’m doubting Rich has the time to write it out at the moment. Anyhow, remind me, I’ll tell you while we hike in May about the woman in West Clear Creek who was willing to be left for dead, if Rich doesn’t beat me to it. I’m sure he tells it better than I since he was there.

My next “epic story” write up, sometime this summer, is about nearby Wet Beaver Canyon, which we did right after West Clear in 88.. Without giving too much away, we were reporting a theft at the police station and they shoed (sp?) us aside because they were headed to the Bull Pen Ranch at the bottom of West Clear Creek for a hostage situation. Every local in the hood was frothing at the mouth, rifle in one hand, beer in the other, as they headed for the hills around the place. They were looking to squeeze off a clean shot at our hero, some Phoenix guy, who was having a drunken fight with his girlfriend. SCARY. More scary is I had left the kids from my outdoor program swimming in that spot, with one adult, just 3 days earlier while doing a shuttle retrieval. It was part of a 10 day run of the “strange”. Ram
