Yes indeed! That loop was entirely your idea. I wasn’t aware that it existed. Now it’s on my list to do every year if possible.

Not expert. I only take pictures of the things I know;-) Actually, there are a lot of photos in the Flora&Fauna Album which are unidentified. I would encourage anyone who knows some of the names to change or add at will. Dave

D An old classic standby. Do the 40 Mile upper slog early (Don’t forget to find those secret side canyons if you can). The lounge. It was a remarkable experience packing for the day. No helmet…no harness….no pads…..no rope……no webbing. Just food and water…and those periodicals that needed catching up on, along with some sleep. Rotating around the sun. With so many folks in Coyote, this place was empty all day and almost as pretty (YMMV). And it was my idea to go, right Dave? He didn’t believe me until the day was half over. The photo album Dave got of flora and fauna that day. Not sure if he is just an expert or had to book research at home, but he got all the names next to the pics. A fine day and a good break from the stark (But beautiful) stemming fare nearby. Ram

  • Yeah, it’s really good. As enjoyable as any hike I’ve done. And one trailhead, at Sooner Rocks, where the road crosses Sooner Wash, makes the perfect base camp. Big entrada domes to explore with enormous potholes and a little canyon heading up to the Straight Cliffs.

    Jeff

BINGO! Good eye Jeff! We had a great time that day. Well supplied with “consumables” and “reading materials” we set out into the depths of Forty-Mile and returned via Willow. We took ~10 hours to do the ~9 miles. Ram wanted to sleep some more but I was pushing him. I highly recommend the loop and will go back whenever I need a soothing day off in Escalante Paradise. Dave

We entered by way of Sooner Wash and I wouldn’t want to return and upclimb that little entry slot without some help(ie, rope, pads, sticky rubber). Dave
