What i learned this day…..Note the date. The head of Pandora’s faces ESE and on this day (and another around February 19th) the sun rises directly in line with the entry to the canyon, providing amazing lighting. I think i will do it on that day again.
We did the headlamp start, following, most of the time anyway, the old cattle trail up onto Meeks Mesa and Sunrise for some pre sunrise light shows. A physical canyon, with belled out downclimbs, tight doorways and moderate stemming and a long way home afterward, it remains one of my favourite canyons. I already want to go back.
