Pine Creek & Keyhole conditions

Can anyone give a recent condition report of Pine Creek and Keyhole. Since this year has been so dry I’d like to know if wetsuits are even needed.

The experience could also be diminished by getting really cold. Some friends of mine went through 2 days ago and said they were happy to have wetsuits. All it takes to freeze in PC is one immersion in the very cold water (which will probably happen w/o special precautions or reptilian climbing ability) a little breeze…perhaps getting stuck behind a party of 12 who are sharing 5 harnesses between them (who are also freezing and therefore reluctant to let you pass). It’s high season down here and the slots are flowing with newbies.

    Besides…

It’s generally easy to cool off – just get in the water and flush your suit. Getting warm ain’t so easy.

Pine Creek Friday. Conditions very straightforward, good and relatively

things up-that seems to be mostly gone, just a little smell post

cathedral. The water seemed surprisingly unskanky. To your question

regarding wetsuits: there were three of us, one with a full, another

with a shorty, and a third with just a top. I think the guy with the

thin full (me J) was the happiest, but probably a matter of tastes and

    preferences.

Thank you. That was helpful. I’ve never been thru it before, but I didn’t want to ruin the experience by incinerating in an un-needed wet suit.

The ‘first obstacle’ pool was about 4 feet, I think. We skirted it

The ‘cathedral pool’ depth was about 6 feet.

The swims a rappel or two after that were relatively short.

Just a beautiful day, although a little windy at the last rappel.

    Enjoy!

    Thank you Brent.

“relatively dry” has a very wide range of meanings, perhaps you could state exactly what you mean by that… though your discussion of rubber usage covered quite a bit of that ground.
