Possible to bivy in Kolob Canyon outside ZNP Boundary?

I’m going do to do boundary canyon soon and we want to have time to explore Kolob Canyon down to the Narrows, but we only have one car and don’t have a narrows camping permit. I was thinking that if there is a decent spot, we could bivy in Kolob outside the ZNP boundary and have time to hike down canyon and then come out the next day. Has anyone done this or know if there would be a acceptable spot for 4 people to sleep in Kolob Canyon outside the park boundary?

Thanks, Evan

The problem is water. If they are not releasing much out of Kolob Reservoir, Kolob Canyon is often pretty dry from MIA exit to the Narrows. There are many reasonable places to bivy, and your permit allows you to bivy IN Kolob, before the Narrows. Worst case, you might have to come out to the Narrows to get water, then hike back up Kolob a quarter mile to camp. Or water up near the MIA exit, then carry to wherever you actually bivy. Then again, there may not even be water at the MIA exit, so…

No permit required for Boundary, but you need a permit to be in The Narrows above Big Springs.
