Reminder – Always let someone know where you”re going.

On my drive home from Northwash last night I got a call from a friend. He was enjoying some skinny slots with a couple other mutual friends. He told me that two were stuck in canyon and he was headed back in with gear to extract them. He was calling to let me know where they were incase he broke an ankle or something weird and they all gut stuck.

All are out fine, so no worries there. I’m not offering details in an attempt protect the innocent from rumors or bashing.

I always send an email to someone I can trust (mom) saying where I am headed, when I should be back and when to start making phone calls if I don’t come out.

I know not everyone let’s someone know their plans. Sometimes a very simple injury or underestimating an obstacle can result in issues getting out safely or at all.

I just thought I would toss out a friendly reminder to always have someone know what your plans are and are willing to start making calls if you don’t come home. And for your emergency contacts peace of mind it may be a good idea to provide them with the numbers to call if the event arises.

Often plans change at the last minute andc we are not in cell service. Leave a note on the car? Would be wise. Do I do it? Ummmmm 😉
