Replace this anchor, please

In keeping with Mike’s open letter and what Ryan and Jim cleaned out of Corral, here is a recent exchange, with another fella, about an anchor, the 2nd rap in Hard Day Harvey. It is way overdue that this anchor get hauled out as trash. It is exposede to floods AND the sun. The exchange….

We tried to examine it while retying the screwy portion of the anchor. It has been used so much, and possibly flooded enough that it is pretty much one with the rock at this point. Impossible to evaluate. Probably should be changed.

I checked this anchor thoroughly in March(?).The rope was a bit stiff but I didn’t deem it a hazard because it’s was so much anchor (9mm dynamic)for the drop.As we had some time,Patrick,Ammie and I, looked at the rope very carefully and dug up what we couldn’t see. That said,it IS exposed to full sunlight and it’s in the watercourse,so use your own judgement. I’ve heard of some folks who replace EVERY webbing anchor just to keep in the habit of being extra safe.Seems like good standard operating procedure… Dave
