Yeah, just bent sheet metal with a couple of holes drilled in. Used to see a ton of drilled aluminum angle here which looks sorta similar.
Some homemade rigs were pretty bomber. The Urioste hangers in Red Rocks for instance.

Looks like half a “spit”, eh? One of those European self drilling bolts. The bit is actually the bolt, you unscrew the holder after pounding on them (drilling) and then screw in a bolt to finish. Still pretty common in Europe, especially in caving circles? Petzl still sells these?
Anyone else?
