RRFW Riverwire – Firepan Ground Cloth Now in Store
August 3, 2009
Fireproof ground cloths are a new equipment requirement for several rivers. In keeping with the trend of more agencies requiring them under firepans, River Runners for Wilderness is pleased to offer the extremely heavy-duty Firepan Ground ClothTM for sale in our store.
The Firepan Ground ClothÆby Fire Safety Products, Inc. is made specifically for use as a ground cloth under an approved fire pan. Measuring 60†x 72â€Â, it provides a generous zone of protection around even large firepans used by river runners. This well made product uses Fire-Silâ„¢, a composite heat resistant fabric which withstands burning by glowing embers and gives a wide zone of protection around the firepan. The Firepan Ground ClothTM, will give you years of use and eases the chore of cleaning up around your firepan when it is time to pack up camp.
Far superior to welder’s blankets or “fire blanketsâ€Â, the Firepan Ground Cloth will not absorb cooking grease and oils, will not cause irritation to skin, eyes or nose after handling, resists chemical decomposition and breakdown, will not absorb water, and is truly “Leave No Trace†compliant.
River Runners for Wilderness reminds river runners to properly prepare the fire area before placing the cloth and firepan by removing combustible materials. Never leave the fire unattended, and clean up and dispose of the ashes as required by the river regulations. Any embers escaping the fire should be immediately placed back in the fire. For safety’s sake, keep a shovel and bucket of water nearby.
The price for this quality product is $70, which includes shipping ($5 extra to Canada) and is available now for immediate shipment in our online store at www.rrfw.org/store.
