TR- Full Left Fork

Aaron reporting in to his mother….

A full Left was done today via the Hammerhead by the same group as Pine Creek. One of Aaron’s first route find leads. He nailed the way from Potato Hollow to the Hammer (the hard part), but missed the Seeps (the easy part), heading too far north before swinging back. The 4th rap in the Hammerhead lands you at the base of a snow wall. Two steps cut with a helmet got the gang up the 15 feet to the top of the obstacle. Rose bushes in bloom made life tough for a bit, exiting the Hammer and getting into the south fork of the Left Fork.

Once in at the Seeps, they found the canyon flowing at 1 CFS. Both chutes got water in the faces of the crew. The flow stopped by the corridor that often has quicksand. No quicksand this year, anchors in place and a few of the “adults” jumped to the pothole. No thank you!

Once down to Das Boot area, the flow was long gone, the water very cold and surprisingly smelly. The jump was in shape and done, right up from Russell Gulch. They meet Andy Eastman and crew by the boulder problem, just below Russell Gulch. The group cruised out and finished in a 10 hour day. Doc Rosen, your nephew had a blast today and says hi! They are “in line” now for a full Imlay tomorrow….if they can get “permission.” Aaron
