TR~one of the best non-technical canyons

Here is our trip report from Memorial Day Weekend:   http://www.summitpost.org/trip-report/637939/adventures-in-escalante-photo-trip-report.html   In my opinion the Fortymile Gulch/Willow Loop is one of the best non-technical canyons in the Escalante, on the Colorado Plateau and in the world.      I hope you enjoy the photos.

  • Hi Louis, not only has Scott been to Zebra he named it.

    From the link below:

“Scott Patterson wrote: ‘We found Zebra in the early 90’s while looking for slot canyons. The first time we went there the stripes made it look zebra–like. On a sunny day it looks more like a Candy Cane and that name is more appropriate. I wish we would have named it Peppermint, but the name Zebra is the one that stuck.'”

My companion and I were going to do 40 mile creek on our last trip in april, but were concerned about the volume of water that could be there, so we chose not to, we will have to make it on our next trip in sept. You have some great photos. You should also check out zebra canyon and tunnel canyon. We saw both of those slots for the first time last april it’s amazing and nontechnical, great for kids.

    Louis
