Crossposting this TR from our AZ group with apologies to Ram, who once posted a wonderful story by the same name here on the Canyons Group years ago. Hopefully folks won’t get the two Parallel Plays confused: Ram’s story is a timeless classic, whereas our canyon just happened to be in season right now and so appropriate for the name . . . __________
We thought it was going to be a piece of cake. Opted for a later than usual start, left the radios at home, even left half our water ration behind by mistake. Little did we know . . .

I will have to snap a picture of it for you next time I encounter it. Better yet perhaps I will just grab a branch or 10 to pass around the next fire side chat. If you REALLY want to experience it, I strongly suggest the bushwhacking exit of Black Canyon. Todd, AZ Aaron, and I traveled through almost half a mile of it. I am sure if either of them are reading this they are flashing back to our personal hell that day.
Cat-Claw – Hikers Beware
Cat’s-claw acacia (acacia greggii), often forms thickets along desert streams and washes. It can grow as high as 20 feet, and blooms with pale yellow flowers. Because of the strong, curved thorns on its branches, it has been called tear-blanket, devil’s claw, and wait-a- minute bush.

Thanks Ted. You cost me a fingernail or two that I bit off during that read. Great stuff from some of the most active folks in the community. Nice problem solving! Fun read Ram
