It’s Hua Shan in the Saanxi Province. I know this because the last photo is almost exacly the same as the one in Kelsey’s book. Check the photo on pg. 440 of the 4th edition Climbers and Hikers Guide to the World’s Mountains. According to his book, many people actually make this climb at night(!!) for merits of seeing the sunrise from the top.
The rock is granite.
