Over the Labor Day week, we did a tour of canyons through the Washington Cascades starting with a second descent of Ape Canyon at Mt Saint Helens (read the great description of the first descent on Ken’s PNW site: www.canyoneeringnorthwest.com) and ending with Thornton and Gorge in the North Cascades NP.
It was a great reminder of the lush foliage not found in other parts of the US. Even better, we lucked out with perfect weather.

Awesome video, Ira! I look forward to trying out some of those canyons – hopefully next summer. The rap at 3:12 looked particularly interesting. Thornton. Gorge. These places look zesty.
